community service policy

We are happy to work with people needing community service hours for school, work or court.  As with all volunteers, community service volunteers must attend a Volunteer Orientation, fill out a Volunteer Information Form and register with VolunteerUP.  All of your service hours must be scheduled with the Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Borton.  Changes or cancellations must be made by phone to Amy at 626-387-6899 x17 prior to the start of your shift.

The construction site is the preferred location for completion of service hours, but the Volunteer Coordinator will make exceptions for completion at the Azusa ReStore or office ONLY.

For students needing service hours to graduate, you will need to meet with Amy to go over the specific schedule you will follow to complete the hours.  Submit any school paperwork for signatures needed.  Each time you volunteer, a Habitat staff member must sign off on your Hours Form.  You must also sign in and out on the regular sign-in sheet.  Once your hours are completed, turn in the Hours Form to Amy via email, mail or fax (626-387-6890).

For employees of companies who require or reward community service, you will need to make arrangements with the Volunteer Coordinator to go over the service requirements and schedule.  Submit any corporate paperwork for signatures needed.  Each time you volunteer, a Habitat staff member must sign off on your Hours Form.  You must also sign in and out on the regular sign-in sheet.  Once your hours are completed, turn in the Hours Form to Amy via email, mail or fax (626-387-6890).

For court-ordered community service volunteers, you will need to meet in person with Amy.  The organization does not work with court-ordered community service volunteers whose offense involves theft or is of a violent or sexual nature.  You will need to turn in an Acknowledgment form prior to the start of your service, along with any relevant court documents.  Each time you volunteer, a Habitat staff member must sign off on your Hours Form.  You must also sign in and out on the regular sign-in sheet.  Once your hours are completed, turn in the Hours Form to Amy via email, mail or fax (626-387-6890).
